LIVESTOCK DOA

For livestock orders only: if livestock arrives deceased (DOA), submit the claim within 2 hours of delivery with clear photographs of the unopened bag, clear photographs of the livestock inside the bag, and your order number.

Approved DOA claims may receive a replacement or store credit at Glass & Gill’s discretion, subject to the policy terms. Non-livestock returns are handled under the standard returns policy.

The Frontosa Burundi is a striking African cichlid offered at 3-4CM. Lake Tanganyika — Burundi locality form. Its appeal comes from the combination of bold colour, intelligent behaviour and the unmistakable territorial presence that makes African cichlid aquariums so engaging.

This is not a generic community fish. Generally calm but predatory; hierarchical and best kept with robust Tanganyikan tank mates. A well-planned aquarium, stable mineral-rich water where appropriate, strong filtration and deliberate stocking make a major difference to long-term colour, behaviour and condition.

Care Requirements

  • Adult size: 25-33 cm
  • Minimum aquarium: 500 L+; long 180-200 cm aquarium preferred for adults/groups

  • Diet: Carnivore/omnivore; quality large-cichlid pellets, crustaceans, mollusc-based and suitable frozen foods
  • Care level: Advanced

Behaviour & Compatibility

Choose robust Tanganyikan species with similar water requirements and enough space to establish territories. Avoid tiny community fish and slow, delicate species.

Good tank-mate direction: compatible African cichlids with similar adult size, temperament and water chemistry; robust Synodontis can be considered in larger African biotope-style systems where appropriate.

Avoid: small peaceful community fish, delicate long-finned fish, incompatible water-parameter species, and overcrowding that prevents weaker individuals from escaping dominant fish.

Aquascaping Notes

Use sand and stable rock structures with caves, ledges and clear territories. Maintain strong biological filtration and excellent oxygenation.
