Hi-Fin Loach

The Hi Fin Loach (Myxocyprinus asiaticus), also known as the Chinese Hi Fin Banded Shark, is a striking freshwater fish admired for its tall, sail-like dorsal fin and distinctive banded patterning. Juveniles display bold black bands across a silver body, creating a dramatic appearance that makes them a standout addition to large aquariums. As they mature, their colours become more subdued, but they retain their impressive size and graceful presence.

Peaceful by nature, the Hi Fin Loach is an excellent choice for large community aquariums with similarly sized tank mates. These active fish enjoy well-oxygenated water, open swimming areas, and strong water movement that mimics their natural river habitat. They are constantly on the move, grazing on algae and searching for food throughout the aquarium.

As omnivores, Hi Fin Loaches readily accept algae wafers, sinking pellets, vegetables, and protein-rich foods. Due to their large adult size, they are best suited for spacious aquariums and ponds where they can reach their full potential.
