There is a reason a truly red Betta never goes out of style. The Premium Solid Red Plakat Female Betta keeps the look simple and strong: a warm red body, matching fins and a compact short-fin shape that puts all of the attention on colour and movement.

Rather than relying on pattern, this fish stands out through saturation. In a planted aquarium the red becomes especially vivid against green leaves and dark driftwood, creating the kind of contrast that makes even a small Betta setup feel intentional and finished.

Care & keeping

Species: Betta splendens
Sex: Female
Fin type: Plakat / short-fin
Adult size: approximately 5–6 cm
Temperature: 24–28°C
pH: 6.5–7.5
Recommended tank: 20L+ for a single female
Difficulty: Beginner to intermediate

Provide warm, stable water, gentle flow and plenty of resting cover near the surface. Feed a quality carnivorous diet using Betta pellets as the staple and supplement with frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp and daphnia.

Temperament & compatibility

Female Bettas may be smaller and less ornate than males, but they are still territorial fish. Keep a close eye on behaviour in any community or sorority-style setup and provide dense planting and multiple retreat areas.

Best for: planted nano aquariums and aquarists looking for a bold red female Betta in South Africa without complex patterning.
