LIVESTOCK DOA
For livestock orders only: if livestock arrives deceased (DOA), submit the claim within 2 hours of delivery with clear photographs of the unopened bag, clear photographs of the livestock inside the bag, and your order number.
Approved DOA claims may receive a replacement or store credit at Glass & Gill’s discretion, subject to the policy terms. Non-livestock returns are handled under the standard returns policy.
Hikari Plankton Early 400 g is a fine-particle prepared feed for very small fish fry in the early feeding stage. It is intended for fry approximately 4–10 mm long, when ordinary flakes, pellets and even many crushed foods are too large to take reliably.
When to use Plankton Early
Use it for suitably developed, free-swimming fry that can capture fine prepared food particles. It can be useful when rearing batches of small egg-laying fish or other species with fry in the appropriate size range. Some newly hatched fry require live microscopic foods first; do not assume all species can accept prepared feed immediately after hatching.
Why the particle size matters
- Fine feed: sized for tiny mouths rather than adult fish.
- Early-stage feeding: helps bridge the transition from first foods toward larger fry feeds.
- Portion control: small pinches can be distributed across a rearing tank for groups of fry.
- Observation: allows breeders to check whether fry are actively taking prepared particles.
Feeding guidance
Offer very small amounts several times daily, appropriate to fry density and species. Distribute gently so particles remain accessible without overwhelming filtration. Siphon excess food carefully and monitor ammonia and nitrite: uneaten fine feed can foul a small nursery aquarium quickly. Move to a larger particle size as the fry grow.
