The Java Fern is one of the most reliable and versatile aquatic plants in the hobby, making it a favourite among both beginner and experienced aquarists. Known for its long, elegant green leaves and exceptional hardiness, Java Fern adds a natural, timeless look to any freshwater aquarium.

Native to Southeast Asia, Java Fern thrives when attached to driftwood, rocks, and other hardscape elements, where its flowing foliage creates movement and depth throughout the aquascape. Its low-maintenance nature and ability to grow in a wide range of water conditions make it an excellent choice for community tanks, shrimp aquariums, and planted displays.

Unlike rooted plants, Java Fern should not be buried in substrate. Instead, it absorbs nutrients directly from the water column, making it an ideal plant for both low-tech and high-tech setups.

Whether you're building your first planted tank or refining a mature aquascape, Java Fern delivers beauty, structure, and reliability.

🌊 Aquascaping Notes

Java Fern is best attached to driftwood, rocks, or décor where its leaves can grow freely and create a natural appearance. It pairs exceptionally well with Anubias, Bucephalandra, and mosses, making it a staple plant in nature-style aquascapes.

⚠️ Avoid burying the rhizome in substrate, as this can cause the plant to rot.
