A truly tiny Corydoras that alternates between hovering in the water column and exploring plant leaves and fine substrate. Its slender profile and dark horizontal stripe lend movement to a mature nano aquascape. The listed sale size is 1.5–2 cm; the photograph, if illustrative, is not a promise of the exact individual supplied.

Why You'll Love This Fish

A sociable, constantly interesting bottom-forager that rewards thoughtful group stocking, soft substrate and consistent water quality. Corydoras are not algae-cleaning substitutes or scavengers that can live on leftovers.

Care at a Glance

  • Scientific name: Corydoras pygmaeus
  • Sale size: 1.5–2 cm
  • Adult size: Approximately 3 cm
  • Recommended aquarium: 45 litres or more for a group
  • Temperature: 22–26°C
  • pH: 6.0–7.5
  • Temperament and group: Gentle schooling fish; keep eight to ten or more
  • Diet: Small sinking granules, microfoods, daphnia and other appropriately sized foods
  • Difficulty: Suitable for attentive keepers with a mature, stable aquarium

Tank Setup and Compatibility

Provide fine, smooth sand or suitably rounded substrate to protect sensitive barbels, open foraging spaces, shelter and gentle water flow with good oxygenation. Keep with peaceful, similarly sized fish; avoid aggressive bottom-dwellers and companions that outcompete them for food. Buy an appropriate same-species group rather than assuming a pair is a complete social group.

Feeding and Acclimation

Feed dedicated sinking foods after observing that every fish reaches its share. Supplement with appropriately sized frozen or live foods. Acclimate carefully to the destination tank and monitor livestock after arrival. Supplier-reported weekly availability is reconfirmed before dispatch; fish not fit to travel will not be sent.
